In Part 1, we pulled back the curtain on everything that happens behind the scenes of food truck wedding catering. We talked about the trucks, rentals, transportation, bar and event logistics that make sure everything runs without a hitch.
Now we get to the fun part of the wedding day.
This time, we’re stepping into the reception itself to show what the dining experience feels like for guests: the catering menu, the menu options they choose from, how the food trucks cater wedding dinner service and the way this Chicago warehouse venue turned into a memorable, food-filled celebration.
Cocktail Hour: Passed Bites from the Trucks’ Menu
Right after the ceremony, guests moved into cocktail hour and were immediately greeted with delicious food from the truck's menu.
Our catering staff walked the room with trays of hot appetizers: crispy fried bites topped with sauce, savory tartlets and guacamole tostadas in mini boats. Each bite was portioned into its own tray so guests could hold a drink, chat with friends, and still enjoy something from the wedding catering menu without standing in line.
This style of service is a great way to start a food truck wedding catering experience. Instead of waiting at the trucks right away, family and friends can sample several menu items, get a taste of both concepts and ease into the night. It lets the mobile kitchens keep serving fresh food while the catering staff keeps the party moving.
Designing a Wedding Catering Menu Around Two Trucks
While cocktail hour was happening, the trucks were getting ready to cater the main meal of the big day.
For this reception, the couple chose two of Chicago’s best food trucks to park inside the venue: the bright red Fat Shallot and the bold green Yum Dum. The trucks became part of the décor, framing the reception tables and instantly telling guests that this was not a traditional catering setup.
Ahead of time, the couple worked with our catering team to build a custom catering menu that mixed their favorite food with crowd-pleasing menu options. Together we chose a variety of sliders, tacos and bao along with sides and toppings, making sure there were options available for different tastes and dietary needs.
A large projected menu listed the trucks, menu items and sides all in one place. Guests could scan the board, find the perfect entree for them, and head to the right truck when it was their turn. It’s an easy way to help guests know everything they need to know without having to read tiny window boards or ask a lot of questions at the last minute.
Food Truck Wedding Catering Meets Plated-Style Service
One of the biggest questions we hear from couples who are planning a food truck wedding is, “Will dinner still feel like a real wedding reception?”
For this event, the answer was yes. The room looked and felt like a classic reception while the trucks handled the cooking in their mobile kitchens.
Round tables were fully set with linens, glassware and flatware. Salads were pre-set at each place, so guests had something to enjoy as they settled in. When it was time for entrees, our catering staff released tables in waves to visit the trucks. Guests brought their salad plates up, ordered from the trucks’ menu options, and received a hot entree on real dinnerware.
Because our catering service team managed the schedule, lines stayed short and the trucks could serve fresh food without rushing. It was a great way to cater the meal: all the fun of having food trucks cater wedding dinner, with the comfort and structure of a traditional sit-down reception.

Bar Service, Signature Drinks and Champagne Toasts
Great food is only part of food truck wedding catering. Drinks help make the special day feel like a celebration.
Throughout cocktail hour and dinner, our bar team poured signature cocktails, wine and beer alongside the truck catering event. Guests could grab a drink before choosing their entree, refill at the right time between courses and raise a glass during speeches.
Because the same company handled both bar and catering options, we could make sure everything stayed balanced. Toasts were scheduled when most guests had already received their meals, and the bar never clashed with truck lines. It made the night feel smooth and easy for people who just wanted to relax and enjoy themselves.
The Room: Warehouse Wedding Venue + Mobile Kitchens
Visually, this food truck wedding catering setup turned the venue into something special.
The warehouse wedding venue’s brick walls and modern chandeliers framed rows of candlelit tables. Against one wall, the red Fat Shallot truck opened its service window right onto the reception floor. On the other side, the green truck anchored the space, with the projected menu between them.
Guests loved the unique atmosphere. They could see chefs working in the mobile kitchens, hear the sizzle from the grill and watch fresh dishes being plated while they sat and talked with friends and family. It’s the kind of detail that makes a wedding reception feel unforgettable and gives people something to talk about long after the night is over.
Guest Experience: How the Night Felt for Family and Friends
From the guests’ point of view, the night felt simple and fun:
Plenty of delicious food. Passed bites, hearty entrees and late-night options meant no one left hungry.
Clear catering options. The giant menu and helpful catering staff made ordering easy, even for guests who had never been to a food truck event before.
Time to enjoy the wedding day. Because lines were managed carefully, guests could sit, talk, laugh and watch speeches instead of waiting around.
Something different from traditional catering. Real plates, full place settings and a structured timeline kept the wedding reception feeling polished, while the food trucks brought a unique, casual-gourmet twist.
Looking across the room, we saw exactly what we want from every food truck wedding catering job: guests enjoying themselves, raising glasses, taking photos with the trucks in the background and going back for their favorite food a second time.
