When you combine a room full of conversation with a venue that stops everyone in their tracks, you get the kind of event people talk about long after the last bite is served.

In January, The Food Truck Hub had the honor of catering for the Out Professionals Chicago Chapter, a leading nonprofit networking organization for LGBTQ+ professionals in the United States. Hosted at 360 CHICAGO, the event delivered something rare: a meaningful community gathering paired with a truly unforgettable setting. From more than 1,000 feet above the Magnificent Mile, guests enjoyed panoramic views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan while connecting, networking, and sharing fresh, vibrant bites designed for easy mingling.

A venue that elevates the entire experience

360 CHICAGO is the kind of venue that brings built-in energy to any event. The views create an instant conversation starter, the space feels modern and polished, and the atmosphere encourages guests to circulate. For networking organizations like Out Professionals, that matters. The best professional events are designed to keep people moving naturally from one interaction to the next, with plenty of opportunities to pause, refresh, and jump back into conversation.

A great venue sets the tone, but it takes intentional planning to make the experience feel seamless. For events with high guest interaction, the food needs to support the flow, not interrupt it. That is where thoughtful catering design can make all the difference.

Fresh, colorful bites designed for networking

This event’s menu was inspired by our founder, Jamie Billow, with a focus on bright flavors, clean presentation, and easy-to-enjoy formats. When the priority is conversation, the best menus include items guests can eat comfortably while standing, holding a drink, or meeting someone new.

Guests enjoyed:

  • Tulip-style caprese skewers that were as eye-catching as they were delicious

  • Fresh fruit skewers for a light, refreshing option

  • A variety of additional bites designed for quick service and easy mingling

These kinds of menu choices do more than feed guests. They reinforce the energy of the room. Fresh, colorful bites feel modern, intentional, and elevated, especially in a space like 360 CHICAGO where the experience is already visually impressive.

The room was full of energy, laughter, and real connection

One of the best parts of this event was the atmosphere. The room was lively, warm, and genuinely engaging. The combination of an iconic venue and a menu that encouraged movement made it easy for guests to connect.

When catering is done right for a networking event, you feel it. There are no bottlenecks, no awkward pauses, and no moments where guests have to choose between eating and interacting. Instead, service supports the flow of the evening, and guests can focus on what they came for: building relationships and enjoying the experience.

We are still reflecting on all the positive feedback we received, and we are grateful to have been part of an event that celebrated community, professional growth, and Chicago’s incredible skyline all at once.

What made this event work so well

Events like this are a reminder that successful corporate and nonprofit gatherings are built on a few key ingredients:

1) The menu matched the event purpose

Networking events call for bite-sized, clean, and visually appealing items. When guests can grab something quickly and keep moving, conversation stays easy.

2) Service supported guest flow

A room full of professionals should feel lively, not congested. Passing and stationed service points help maintain movement without creating long lines.

3) The venue created a memorable moment

A skyline view does not just look great, it changes the energy of the room. It makes the event feel special without requiring complicated production.

4) Details reinforced the brand experience

From presentation to staff presence, small details made the event feel polished and intentional.
